Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting is real-time interpretation between speakers of two different languages. The service is most commonly provided at conferences for large companies as well as at meetings within government agencies.

Rosetta Translations is a leading provider of interpreters for government officials and businessmen. We offer simultaneous interpreting throughout Egypt as well as around the globe.

We maintain high standards when choosing interpreters, our requirements include:

  • Strong retrieval and listening skills
  • High analytical skills in order to increase accuracy
  • Listening skills include understanding what is being said then accurately and immediately repeating it within the target language
  • A project manager chooses the appropriate interpreter for each job and communicates the topic of the meeting or conference ahead of time to ensure that the interpreter familiarizes themselves with the terminology
  • Patient privacy is to be respected throughout the medical field. Additionally, ethical practices are put into place because of legal consequences
  • Multiple types of simultaneous interpreting are available and therefore a person must understand the differences between them as some may be overseen by clients and interpreters

Our interpreters are constantly being trained. We focus on the needs of our clients when choosing interpreters and this allows us to provide the best translation services possible.

The types of simultaneous interpreting include:

Consecutive Interpreting

This form of interpreting requires a desk in a quiet area. The interpreter will be required to interpret simultaneously. They will not be required to write anything down, though the complexity of the task involves the interpreter repeating the conversation in the source language within sections of the target language.

Sequential Interpreting

In sequential interpreting, the interpreter has time to understand and analyze the conversation, ensuring that the proper meaning is captured. The interpreter waits until the speaker has finished talking before the interpretation starts. The interpreter is usually within the same location as the conversation participants to ensure dialogue understanding.

Whispering Interpreting

Special interpreting equipment is used in this type. The interpreter can hear the speaker, interprets the dialogue, and then whispers it to the person or audience in the target language.

Conference Interpreting

Most conferences utilize simultaneous interpreting because it allows participants from multiple nationalities to communicate effectively and immediately, thus eliminating any language barrier.

Community Interpreting (Liaison)

This is similar to conference interpreting, though the session is on a smaller scale.

Travel/Escort Interpreting

This service provides interpreters to businessmen, government officials, investors, and others as they travel. It ensures that interpretation occurs while meeting various business associates.

Media Interpreting

This form of interpretation is conducted at press conferences, interviews, public meetings, and throughout other forms of media.

Legal Interpreting (Courtrooms)

This form of legal interpretation takes place at courts or within legal agencies. It focuses on law, and judgments; it may include multiple types of cases. It is generally legal dialogue and therefore requires an interpreter who has legal knowledge.

Commercial Interpreting

This type of interpreting uses consecutive or sequential interpreting and is most common for commercial business management. It is used by businessmen and investors alike.

Medical Interpreting

Medical interpreting can involve many scenarios, including emergency room services, lap work for complicated operations, and routine doctor visits. The interpreting may also be referred to as hospital interpreting or healthcare interpreting. There is also another category, known as legal medical interpreting.

Educational Interpreting

Educational interpreting is typically used in classrooms where students don’t have the ability to understand or speak the native language used within the class. This type of interpretation is gaining popularity for sign language and is also used between parents and teachers.

Via Telephone Interpreting

This type of interpretation uses a remote method of communication, including telephone, Internet, and videoconferencing. It generally involves the interpreter working from where the source language is being spoken.
